Log out and in for it to take full effect. Set your JAVA_HOME environment variable to /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0.jdk/Contents/Home, and from then put the command for setting JAVA_HOME in your ~/.profile to make it more permanent.
